Coin Locker Babies

“Mr. Murakami’s novels are filled with entertaining psychopaths.” —The New York Times From the master of the psychothriller and author of In the Miso Soup, a savage and stunning novel of two boys coming of age in the seedy underbelly of Japanese society

One hot summer day, two women leave two baby boys in train station coin lockers in Tokyo—and though the babies survive, their lives are forever defined by this abandonment. Keiko and Hashi are adopted and raised together on a remote island, but they quickly embark on different paths: Keiko as an athlete consumed by revenge against the woman who left him behind, Hashi a bisexual rock star who longs for his lost mother. When the two reunite amidst the addicts, freaks, and prostitutes of the apocalyptic Toxitown district of Tokyo, their twin desires plunge them into a surrealistic whirl of violence that threatens to annihilate not only their own lives, but the entire world.
