Support

Most problems are a source that can’t be reached. Illiterati tries to say which one, and why, rather than failing quietly.

Get in touch

Add a contact address to site.config.json and it will appear here.

“The library loads but nothing plays”

On Plex this is almost always the connection, not the book. Open Settings → Sources and tap the server: the diagnostics there show which address was chosen, whether the machine identifier matched, and what the server said when asked for the file. A 404 on a part with a valid token usually means the file is missing from the server’s own disk — an unmounted drive, most often.

“It timed out after I left the house”

Illiterati re-selects the connection whenever the network path changes, and re-reads your server’s addresses from plex.tv when it does. If it still can’t reach anything it will say so instead of handing the player a URL that will hang. Pull to refresh on the source, or open the diagnostics to see which addresses were tried.

Chapters are wrong or oddly named

For books that are loose files, chapter names come from filenames and are cleaned up automatically. Where a file has real embedded chapters — M4B or ID3 — those are used untouched. You can rename a book’s details from its page in the library.

The Watch app

It works as a remote whenever the phone is nearby, and standalone when it isn’t. Books have to be copied over from the phone first, and the watch holds three at a time — the oldest is evicted when a fourth arrives.

The widget or complication shows nothing

Play something once after installing; the widget reads a snapshot the app writes as it plays.
