Easy Prey

John Sandford's Prey series continues to defy genre. Full of unflinching, relentless suspense, his novels also offer strong, well-drawn characters who grow deeper and more complex with each book. The eleventh book in his best-selling series, Easy Prey, finds Chief Lucas Davenport on the trail of two separate murderers, tied together by one victim. Lucas has dealt with his share of high profile crimes, but none have prepared him for the media storm surrounding his latest case.

Two young women have been found dead after a party at a socialite's house. One of the victims is Alie'e Mason, a model on the fast-track to superstardom. While Lucas hunts for their killer, someone else begins assassinating the people closest to Alie'e. As Lucas attempts to protect her girlfriend, he finds himself drawn personally into the investigation. Richard Ferrone's reading combined with a multi-layered plot that could come straight from today's headlines is a nonstop tour de force.
