Warmbloods

A secret riding club event held by privileged teen equestrians leaves one of them dead in this deliciously dark and sinister young adult thriller that keeps the reader guessing about the identity of the victim—perfect for fans of Natasha Preston, Kara Thomas, and Chelsea Ichaso.

At North Skye Equestrian, the most prestigious and selective barn in the country, teenage horse riders compete for their spot in the winner’s circle and among their socially elite peers. One of the riding club’s most beloved traditions was the annual Fox Hunt, which capped off the summer riding season with a brief reprieve before the notoriously intense Youth Grand Prix. Everyone dressed to the nines to pursue the Fox, a rider in a red riding habit that led the others in a merry chase. That is, until one of the riders died a decade ago. The Fox Hunt has been shut down ever since. This year, a group of riders decides to secretly resurrect the club. And then their Fox turns up dead. The four teens who initiated the secret club—two boys and two girls—find the body. The Fox is one of the North Skye girls, but which one? And who wanted her gone badly enough to murder her in cold blood? With the identity of the Fox kept hidden from the reader until the climactic ending, it’s a race against time to meet each cutthroat member of the elite riding club and find the killer—and victim—in their midst.
