The Raccoons and the Market of Willowcross

At the center of Willowcross Forest stands the Peace Market, a circle of wooden stalls where animals have traded nuts, herbs, cloth-grass, honey, tools, and stories for generations. No creature owns the market, and every species depends on it. But after a season of shortages, missing baskets, false accusations, and secret bargains, the old trust begins to collapse. Sellers refuse customers from rival neighborhoods, guards favor their friends, and the market that once joined the forest becomes the place most likely to divide it.

The Ashmask raccoon family—patient father Orin, resourceful mother Mara, observant daughter Luma, quick-handed son Kit, and Grandmother Brindle—returns to Willowcross after a long gathering journey and finds the market on the edge of ruin. Instead of choosing a side, they begin tracing where the misunderstandings started. Their search leads through hidden ledgers, staged thefts, frightened merchants, and a final test in which the family must prove that peace cannot be restored by forcing everyone to agree. It must be rebuilt through fair rules, shared facts, open exchange, and the courage to protect even those who once treated you unjustly.
