You Will Please Me

What can a dominatrix teach us about ourselves? In this intimate and electrifying memoir, Eva Oh takes readers behind the dungeon door to reveal what our inner most desires say about the lives we lead in public.

Who might we become when no one is telling us who to be? What might we want when no one is watching? When does surrender become an act of agency?

When Eva Oh left her corporate career to become a professional dominatrix, she entered a world of private fantasies and carefully negotiated surrender. CEOs and financiers sought her out to relinquish the power they wielded everywhere else. But as Eva traveled the world, learned from other mistresses, and built a business on her own terms, she began to see what lay beneath the whips and rituals: the unwritten rules governing who gets to want, who gets to decide, and who is expected to please. Drawing on unforgettable clients, personal relationships, and the hard-won lessons of her life and career, Eva reveals how power is performed, traded, abused, and reclaimed—inside the dungeon and far beyond it. Bold, provocative, and occasionally shocking, You Will Please Me is a memoir about desire, money, gender roles, and the freedom to define yourself.
