The Hummingbirds of Scarlet Blossom Vale

In Scarlet Blossom Vale, the hummingbirds have always depended on hundreds of tiny flowers scattered across the cliffs, meadows, and forest edge. Their greatest strength is speed, but speed alone cannot protect a shared home. When a fierce swarm of hornets settles near the vale and begins driving smaller creatures away from the richest blossoms, the hummingbirds are tempted to fight wing against wing. Instead, the elder Solenne and the young siblings Liri and Pip discover that the hornets' power depends on fear, confusion, and isolation. By uniting bees, butterflies, beetles, spiders, and other small neighbors, the hummingbirds design a defense built on warning signals, decoys, safe corridors, and patience. Their struggle becomes a continuous fable about courage without recklessness, unity without uniformity, and the wisdom of defeating aggression without becoming aggressive in return.
