The Web That Warned the Wood

In Elderfern Forest, danger has always traveled faster than news. A falling branch can crush a burrow before a squirrel reaches the next tree, fire can cross dry grass before a rabbit finishes a warning, and a prowling hunter can vanish between shadows while neighbors argue about what they saw.

The Threadmere spider family believes the forest needs something no single messenger can provide: a living warning network stretched from root to canopy. As they build it, they must face mockery, false alarms, selfish animals who want private control, and a storm that tests every strand. Their struggle becomes a fable about trust, shared responsibility, accurate information, and the difference between spreading fear and carrying truth.
